What is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy?

Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) is a type of therapy that helps people identify and overcome their negative thoughts, feelings, or behaviours by using positive communication and other tried and tested therapeutic approaches. It has proven over time to be effective for the treatment of anxiety problems including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anger management etc.

The key thing about this formative approach vs others such as “Operant Conditioning” or “Respondent Conditioning” methods used in understanding human behaviour lies within its ability, to not just focus on what someone says, but by being able to take a holistic approach to examine and understand where they’re coming from – “cognitive biases”.

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) aims to change how we think about things so it becomes more positive than negative, which can lead us on an entirely new path towards happiness! CBT is most commonly used to treat people suffering from anxiety and depression, but can also be very useful for other cognitive and physical health issues.

One such bias we frequently witness with some patients who had sought professional help but did not get the expected treatment outcome relates to most therapists focusing primarily on emotions, forgetting that mental well-being is an equally important aspect when providing guidance and therapeutic solutions.

A person’s mood or feelings can often be determined by what they believe about themselves, even if there isn’t any basis for this in reality – this phenomenon is known as cognitive biases.

Problems and issues that may stop you from seeking Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

How is Cognitive behaviour therapy helpful towards your health issues?

Our certified Cognitive Behaviour therapists will help guide you through the process of understanding and managing your thoughts and feelings.

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy offers a 100% confidential setting for you to open up and start working on your healing journey. With our certified therapists, you can be sure that your privacy is always our number one concern.

CBT therapy is a powerful tool that has been shown to help people manage their stress more effectively. Our certified therapists will work with you, one-on-one to help you understand your thoughts and feelings better, so you can start feeling better sooner.

When we are low or depressed, it can be difficult to find solutions for our problems. It’s easy to think there aren’t any available options out there and to become more convinced of the severity of what’s happening in your life – this is when depression becomes a vicious cycle because you can be overwhelmed by these feelings which makes everything seem insurmountable, leading back into another bout with depression!

The good news though – there are psychotherapeutic professionals out here who specialise specifically in helping people like you, so don’t give up hope just yet because we might have some advice or guidance which could help break through any obstacles standing between YOU and Happiness.

How does CBT work?

The idea behind Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is that your thoughts, feelings, and actions are closely associated with one another. If negative thought patterns are allowed to take over, you may feel like nothing will ever make sense again. This is because they’re so deeply ingrained in your brain through experiences or traumas/shock, they can lead you down a vicious cycle of negativity if left unchecked for too long.

A therapist helps break these cycles by showing you how to change your old habits – both mental and physical, from the food that you eat through to establishing an entirely different mental approach. The solution lays between your willingness and our expertise. Talk to us in confidence.

How is CBT different from other Psychotherapies?

There are many different types of therapies for mental health conditions, but CBT stands out because it focuses on changing how someone thinks. A key difference between this approach and others is that therapists don’t simply provide patients with new information about their disorder – rather, they teach patients practical skills to manage symptoms through mindset modification techniques such as self – monitoring or problem-solving under supervision.

Other unique features include the use of relaxation exercises in addition to Cognitive Restructuring sessions where individuals learn more effective ways of abstracting negative thoughts into healthier ones while identifying triggers which lead back into a vicious cycle.

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is an interactive process that gives you the skills and strategies to identify your triggers, discover patterns of thinking related to how you respond emotionally. The most interesting part about this therapy is that you are always in control as we help guide what happens next!

CBT helps people change their negative thoughts and feelings that often lead them into unhealthy habits. This form of psychotherapy is an evidence-based approach, meaning it works!

Do I need a GP’s referral to see a Cognitive Behaviour Therapist?

The most cost-effective way to get psychological therapies, including CBT, is on the NHS. However, there’s no requirement for a referral from your GP or any other medical professional to see a private counsellor.

You can go straight into an IAPT service and start receiving your treatment immediately! Private counselling is the best option for those who don’t want much attention during their therapy sessions, and we are waiting with open arms when you’re feeling downcast about your life circumstances.
